Fair Treatment
Workplace discrimination & Harassment
At Barton Mendez Soto PLLC, we believe in a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our vision, since founding our firm, has been to pursue equity and justice for historically marginalized and exploited individuals and communities. This commitment fuels our work as we represent employees across Arizona, holding employers accountable for unjust actions in the workplace, including discrimination and harassment. We are free from conflicts with monied interests, allowing us to focus singularly on equity and justice and eagerly pursue cases others might avoid.
Standing Against Workplace Discrimination and Harassment
Despite anti-discrimination laws, discrimination remains a persistent and evolving challenge in workplaces across Arizona. It can manifest in subtle or overt ways, creating unfair obstacles that are infuriating and defeating. Our job is to help you identify these acts and take effective legal steps to make a difference. We fight for an employee’s right to be free from discrimination prohibited by cornerstone federal laws, including:
-
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act (discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex).
-
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act and Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).
-
The Equal Pay Act (EPA) (different pay to men and women).
-
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) (protecting people who are 40 or older).
-
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Being subjected to harassment because of your race, color, religion, sex (including sexual orientation, gender identity, or pregnancy), national origin, older age, or disability is also a form of prohibited discrimination. If you feel you must tolerate this harassment to keep your job, or if the harassment is severe or pervasive enough to create a hostile work environment, you may have grounds for a complaint against your employer.
